Cameroon closes its consulate in Dubai due to heavy rains

On April 16, 2024, severe storms hit several cities in Dubai, causing enormous damage. The consul advised all Cameroonians to stay at home, as advised by the United Arab Emirates authorities.

Several cities were affected, including areas such as airports and seaports, among other areas of activity. This is the heaviest rainfall recorded in the United Arab Emirates in 75 years.

Schools were closed while several photos and videos posted online showed how residents struggled to contain the water. While others were returning from work, they found themselves stuck in the waters.

The General Consul of Cameroon in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, Donacier Mebouogue, informed Cameroonians residing in these areas that the Consulate will be closed on Friday April 19, 2024, due to the severe storms. In a press release it is indicated that people with appointments will only be able to be accommodated on Monday April 22, 2024.
